The Hemp industry improves the standard of living in these underdeveloped villages of Rolpa and Rakum in Nepal, where the men hand-pick the hemp and the women weave the hemp fabric. The hemp market in this area is held twice a year and is the only form of income for many of these villagers. We work with a small family run producer in Kathmandu that purchase the handwoven hemp material from the hemp market, and brings it back to Kathmandu for dying and production.
We are happy to be working with our supplier that follows fair trade practices, provides a fair wage, positive work environment and health care assistance to their employees.
Wild hemp is one of the most eco-friendly fabrics on earth, it grows without fertilizers and pesticides, requires no additional watering and provides 3 times the amount of fiber per plant compared to cotton. We use only natural organic vegetable dyes.
